“giving children from poor backgrounds a future and a hope”

Grace Ministries Thailand is a local community outreach in Krasang North East Thailand, offering hope and new future opportunities to impoverished families and children. It provides valuable support and care to families in need and in particular to children, the most vulnerable in any society, who are particularly at risk from sexual and labour exploitation in Thailand.

The programme provides scholarships for secondary education to girls and boys from poor or deprived, or in many cases, dangerous backgrounds. The education scholarships are aimed at improving the employability, earning capacity and job opportunities for young people who otherwise would have very little opportunity of secondary education and as such are in the high-risk category of being exploited by the "tourist" industry and from labour exploitation.

Grace Ministries also provides support to impoverished families in the community via educational, medical and agricultural support.

History

Charles Harvey and his wife Yoke Fong established the work in 1996, when they took over from a previous programme called WWAV (Women with A Vision), which was founded in 1991 by an American lady called Leona Karni to provide real and viable alternatives to girls from impoverished families from sexual and child labour exploitation.

We have supported over 137 girls and 19 boys of which 33 girls and 12 boys are currently in our care.
